A recent graduate from the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri, I moved to Memphis in June of 2009. So far? I'm LOVING IT! I work in Communications for MPACT Memphis, a nonprofit dedicated to connecting, engaging and retaining Memphis' young professionals. We have between 10=20 events per month focused on our core areas of member connections, personal development, civic engagement and community service. This basically means one night we'll have a networking happy hour, the next a Green-Issue Panel and wrap up the week with a Red Cross community service project. Visit www.mpactmemphis.org for more information on how to join! I love to read everything, try new foods and bake really challenging Martha Stewart recipes. I don't like running, but I like the effects so I do it as much as possible (especially at Shelby Farms!). I love meeting new people and finding about all the amazing things Memphis has to offer. I'm a little obsessed with dogs (I have two) and I try to volunteer at Sunny Meadows (a no-kill shelter) as much as possible. My favorite beer is Boulevard Wheat and I'm trying to bring it to Memphis.

I can’t even count the number of times I walked into a city council meeting and bee-lined to the a seat in the back of the room (usually, the world’s smallest room.) As a journalism major, it was usually my job to cover every meeting for the local, student-driven paper. During these meetings, I avoided [...]

Memphis and I are in a whirlwind romance. We met this summer. I moved from St. Louis and wasn’t looking for anything serious, maybe just a quick fling.  Now? I’m head over heels. Recently, when an article (yes, I’m bringing that up again) described Memphis as miserable, I became irrationally angry. As I skimmed over [...]
