I'm not a native Memphian, but I feel like a hometown girl. I forded the river a few years back for Rhodes College, discovered Shelby Farms Park, and resisted the great exodus to "greener" pastures after school. Are there greener pastures than mine? Doubt it. I'm a writer by training, a Cooper-Youngian by night, a communications manager for America's biggest city park by day, and a mountain biker by sheer force of self-destructive will. And since you asked, my Memphis is my bike and me, in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of everything at Shelby Farms Park.
