Last year, Lipscomb Pitts Breakfast Club hosted two Samaritans Feet Shoe Distributions and they were some of my personal favorites, due to the unique experience and impact with the kids. The founder of Samaritans Feet, Manny Ohonme, will be flying in to participate again this year and we are teaming with the Memphis Grizzlies, so they will have some of their players participating, as well. We will literally wash the feet of over 200 kids here in Memphis and give them new shoes and socks! Click here to watch a video from last year’s event.
This year’s shoe distribution will be held next Friday, January 13th at the FedEx Forum Grand Lobby (Parking is free in the Toyota Parking Garage) and we will need volunteers from 2p to 6p. Some of the Memphis Grizzlies players will be participating and the founder of Samaritans Feet, Manny Ohonme, will also be flying in to join us and lead the event. We will be setting up from 2-4p and kids will arrive from 4-6p. Kids will be coming from various organizations, like Girls Inc, Catholic Charities, Building Blocks, and Refugee Empowerment Center. There will be many roles and opportunities to serve, so we would love to have as many volunteers as possible. You can pitch in as long and as much as able or desired.
If you would like to participate and join us for the experience, please email me at rsvp.lpbc@lpinsurance.com. Just let us know the names and the timeframe you and your team are able to help. Also, let us know if you have a preference for being a greeter, shoe distributor, shoe organizer, water handler, or foot washer.
