BarCamp MemphisGot some free time this weekend and want to learn more about technology?

Here’s a great opportunity — Memphis’ fourth BarCamp will be this Saturday, November 12, at Southwest Tennessee Community College, 5983 Macon Cove.

What’s BarCamp? It’s a tech conference that’s actually an unconference. If you’ve got an idea, technique or expertise you’d like to share, come early and sign up to present. Topics are voted on by attendees and the ideas that receive the most votes will be presented. There’s plenty of time for networking and you can be sure you’ll meet at least one person with whom you share a common interest.

If you don’t want to present, that’s ok, too. Just come and enjoy the casual atmosphere, listen and learn.

Here are a few of the topics that have already been submitted — and we’re sure there will be even more coming in this week:

  • ThinkFactory: Gamestorming to break through design challenges
  • Gamification of the Workplace
  • Google Analytics
  • LinkedIn for Professionals
  • Scale or Fail – Deploy your apps in the cloud
  • Mobile Usability Testing: Hands-on Demo Session
  • Becoming a better web developer by being lazier: using the tools at your disposal to more efficiently use your time.
  • Mobile Audience Research: Sometimes you just gotta be there…
  • Social Media or Social Mania?
  • In search of the magic bullet
  • iPhone & Android site use (it’s different)
  • Online Media Plan development
  • Gamification & Triggers
  • Unity 3D in the Enterprise (not just for games)
  • Smart/Responsive Mobile Design
  • CoffeeScript – This ain’t your daddy’s java, Dude
  • The hottest platform in web development: node.js

There will be free wifi; feel free to bring your laptop and mobile devices. The cost varies from student rate (pay as you can) to corporate rate. Register here and choose what you pay — we’re on the honor system.

The day will kick off at about 8:30 a.m. and wrap up at 4:30 p.m. There will be snacks throughout the day and lunch is provided. Dress is come-as-you-are comfortable and casual.
