Mud Island
A couple days ago I decided to visit Mud Island for the first time. I have lived here my whole life and after I visited it, wondered why I hadn’t come sooner.
To enter into Mud Island, you can either take the Monorail under the Skybridge or you can walk over the Skybridge. Either way, you get the most amazing view of the Mississippi River and the city.
After stepping off the Skybridge, you are now on the River Walk. The River Walk is an exact replica to scale of the Mississippi River and it’s surrounding areas. Along the walk, you will learn about history and see amazing geographical formations.
The River Walk’s journey ends at what is the replica of the Gulf of Mexico. Don’t forget to bring your bathing suits, because in this area, you can wade around in and cool off. They also have paddle boats you can go around the water in, while getting a beautiful skyline view of the city behind.
I really enjoyed Mud Island and the calming feeling you get being there and surrounded by such a beautiful backdrop.
One of the best things about Mud Island is general admission and access to the skybridge is free all the time, so come out and bring your family and have a good time!
