My generation welcomes the chance to go green! The Wolf River Conservancy is one of the many places that not only has taken up the mantel of being green, but has whole heartedly embraced it. They will continue to do so with their second annual “Wolf River Day-It’s Cool to Go Green” on September 25.

The event, which aims at promoting a greener, healthier, and more livable community with more sustainable lifestyles, will take place on the V&E Greenline (Memphis’ first “rails-to-trails project.”) The celebration is for everyone with fun family activities including a children’s bike parade and games. There will be local vendors and many wonderful events to get out and experience the beauty of the nature that surrounds us on a daily basis. I’m definitely marking my calendar for this event, and if you enjoy nature and saving the environment for future generations, then you should too.

The Commercial Appeal recently highlighted the Wolf River Greenway in the article “More than just a trail:Wolf River Greenway envisioned as bridge to neighborhoods, a ‘force for transformation.’”

The Wolf River Conservancy also has other events coming up including a tributary cleanup on September 18, a free canoe and rafting trip on October 2 and the Greenway 4miler and Family Fun on Walk on Saturday, October 16. For more information, visit wolfriver.org.
