UDig Dance Academy Nominated for MTV VMA for Best Choreography

Congratulations are in order for UDig Dance Academy: dancers Marico Flake, Ladia Yates and Charles Riley choreographed and were featured in Janelle Monae’s Tightrope video and are now nominated for a 2010 MTV Video Music Award for Best Choreography! Be sure to watch on September 12 to see if these Memphis jookers bring home a Moonman!

Founded and based in Memphis, Tennessee in December 2006, U-Dig Dance Academy is a non-traditional dance school that offers lessons in various styles of dance such as ballet, jazz, break-dance, and Memphis’ own jookin’. Their mission is to provide young people opportunities to use their imagination through performing arts while simultaneously aiding them to grow personally and socially by building self-esteem, confidence, character, and health.

You may have seen U Dig at our anniversary party last May. Or you may have seen them on America’s Got Talent, So You Think You Can Dance, or The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
