August 11, 2010 MemphisConnect
MemphisConnect.com, along with over 50 other community organizations, is partnering with Leadership Memphis and CEO for Cities for the Memphis Talent Dividend and the 100 Things in 100 Days project, an effort to increase the number of college graduates in the Memphis Metro area by one percentage point. Studies prove that if the Memphis region can increase college attainment by one percentage point, there will be a $1 billion economic impact on the Memphis economy. Education is an economic driver that will generate jobs, attract new business to Memphis, allow local businesses to expand and nurture entrepreneurship. Education is also the antidote to chronic drains on our community, such as poverty, crime and illiteracy.
The 100 Things in 100 Days campaign is a community-engaging, short-term campaign that officially launches August 11, 2010 and lasts through November 18, 2010. MemphisConnect.com is participating in this effort with a Twitter campaign increasing the awareness of the exceptional colleges and universities in our community. Over the next 100 days @MemphisConnect will have a daily tweet containing the hashtag #edumem. Please feel free to retweet messages that you find interesting, as well as create your own #edumem factoids.
MemphisConnect is a partnership between The Leadership Academy, MemphisED and Simple Focus. We provide a gathering place for diverse Memphians to share the opportunities, initiatives and activities that inspire them to make Memphis home.
MemphisConnect is always looking for people who are passionate about Memphis and want to help move our community forward. Get in touch if you have a story for us to share, of if you want to write for us!
