The National Civil Rights Museum is featuring the film The Lottery on Wednesday, July 21 at 5:30pm. The film delves into such questions as “Should the right to a great public education be decided by a lottery?” and “Can all children succeed?” The Lottery follows four families from Harlem and the Bronx who have entered their children in a charter school lottery. Out of thousands of hopefuls, only a small minority will win the chance of a better future.

The film offers the community the opportunity to discuss public education and what that means in Memphis. Stand for Children has coordinated this free event. The screening is open to anyone in the community but we only have room for 100 people so RSVP as soon as possible to Jennifer Jackson at jjackson@stand.org.
