GiVE_365_final_web_generalThink you can’t help a philanthropy? Think it’s too expensive a task? The Community Foundation of Greater Memphis wants you to think again with their Give 365 initiative. Give 365 isn’t just about raising as much money as they possibly can, it’s also about instilling a charitable giving streak in the next generation of Memphians.

According to their website:

The goal [of Give 365]  is to encourage collective and informed charitable giving by the next generation of donors.”

The idea behind this new initiative is based on the concept of a giving circle, or the pooling of funds and resources by a group of people to donate to the community. Give 365 members will put this into practice in Memphis. After choosing a grant making theme members then choose which projects will be funded to address the chosen theme.

By harnessing the energy, enthusiasm and resources of Memphians, Give 365 hopes to build community awareness, leadership and responsibility and establish a pattern of charitable giving with a lasting fund that continues to grow.

To get the ball rolling on their new initiative, the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis will be matching, dollar for dollar, all donations up to $20,000.

The Give 365 initiative will kick off on Tuesday, June 1, from 5:30-7p.m. at the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis. Special guest AC Wharton will be in attendance, and the event will be presented by the president of the Community Foundation, Bob Fockler.   To RSVP contact Ashley Harper.
