This Friday, in recognition of National Bike-to-Work Day, the Center City Commission is organizing a day full of activities in an effort to encourage Memphis to try two wheels instead of four from time to time in our daily routines. Since learning about this, I’ve thrown my hat (helmet, actually) into the ring to help out, and you can, too.
For those of you in and around the Midtown area who work Downtown, I invite you to join me for a fun and relaxed commute ride to work this Friday morning. We’ll meet at Otherlands Coffee (located at 641 South Cooper) at 7:30 A.M. for a quick coffee and we will depart at approximately 7:45 A.M.
Our initial destination will be the Memphis Farmers Market Pavilion where volunteers will greet us and shower us with gifts and free stuff from sponsors and partners of the ride. Everyone can head to their respective places of work from there – I think it’s safe to say you can plan on being to work by 8:30 at any point Downtown if we keep to our departure schedule.
We will ride rain or shine, so think positive weather thoughts. Let me know if you plan to ride so we are sure not to leave without you. Tell your friends, and get on out and join us. It’s going to be a great day.
