With only a month until the Grand Opening Celebration for the New Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, we are searching the the region looking for 2-3 former patients to lead the ceremony’s parade as grand marshals. We kicked off our search on Monday via Facebook, and all of the rules and instructions are posted here. We’re taking nominations until May 20, then we will post the finalists on our Facebook page and have our fans vote on the 2-3 most deserving kids.
The parade – complete with floats, banner groups, stilt walkers and much more – will be hosted by Seseme Street’s Gordon and Maria and broadcast live on WMC-TV and wmctv.com. The selected grand marshals will lead the parade in a horse-drawn carriage and followed by representatives from our employees, volunteers, physicians and former patients.
Our Grand Opening celebration will begin at 10 a.m. on June 15, 2010. Honored guests, patients, families, physicians and Le Bonheur employees will gather to celebrate the opening of the new hospital made possible by the generous Memphis community. Four years ago, we kicked off a $100 million capital campaign to build the new Le Bonheur Children’s, and the Memphis community stepped up and helped us exceed our goal last year – making it the largest capital campaign in the city.
