Stand For Children, a national non-profit child advocacy group, will be holding a kickoff rally for the new Memphis chapter on Saturday, May 15 from 10am to noon at the Civil Rights Museum.
Stand for Children is building a grassroots movement with parents, grandparents, and other community members concerned about supporting kids and who believe in strong public education. Stand for Children improves children’s lives by galvanizing citizens together to advocate, persuade, and hold elected officials accountable to make good decisions for all kids. Through leadership training and mentoring, Stand for Children gives everyday people the tools to make real, lasting differences for children in their communities.
RSVP at www.stand.org/tn or on their Facebook page www.facebook.com/tennesseestand or contact Jennifer Jackson at 901-870-1098, jjackson@stand.org.
MemphisConnect is a partnership between The Leadership Academy, MemphisED and Simple Focus. We provide a gathering place for diverse Memphians to share the opportunities, initiatives and activities that inspire them to make Memphis home.
MemphisConnect is always looking for people who are passionate about Memphis and want to help move our community forward. Get in touch if you have a story for us to share, of if you want to write for us!
