People will come from many states and several countries this week to play and pay homage to the blues in a very big way. The Blues Foundation presents the annual IBC with the winner’s of sanctioned contests from around the world making the pilgrimage to Memphis to give it their best shot. Ever seen a blues band from a former Soviet Republic? Ten bands each in a dozen clubs along Beale Street doing 30 minute sets on both Thursday and Friday nights will separate the pretty good from the really great and finals will be held on Saturday at the Orpheum. Go talk to these folks about how thrilled they are simply to be in Memphis – it will be an eye opener — and stay for the fabulous music!
