Call for Entries: UrbanArt Seeks Student Art for Storefronts

Calling all artists for this UrbanArt opportunity:

UrbanArt is seeking exhibition proposals for its storefront gallery space located at the front of its office at 2549 Broad Avenue for 2010.

Interested art students should send a CD-R with no more than 10 jpeg images of past or current work, along with a brief statement of what you propose to exhibit in the space (150 words maximum, please), and a copy of your current artist’s bio to info@urbanartcommission.org by Friday 29 January 2010. Please be sure to describe in the proposal how the work you intend to display may also be adapted for public art applications.

UrbanArt shall select up to 3 artists for exhibitions lasting up to 3 months in duration.

Exhibitions of work composed of any media including, but not limited to, painting, drawing, sculpture, video, or mixed media are acceptable for consideration.

The competition is open to all current college and university students in Memphis.

Each exhibition shall be promoted through UrbanArt’s extensive networks of local and national art professionals and media outlets, and shall be celebrated with an opening party, and an exhibition brochure card.

Selected artists shall receive an award of $300 plus a materials allowance of $200.
