The holiday season is upon us, and so are a number of family traditions: the decorating of the tree to a glass (or two) of eggnog and a batch of party mix, the battle of the malls, the awkward picture of Flannery with Santa… and a one-of-a-kind production that can only be conceived by two immensely talented and uniquely Memphis organizations. That’s right: it’s time for Pre-sent/Pres-ent 8, from Voices of the South and Project: Motion.
In their words [ahem]:
Anticipating a blue Christmas? Well, cut it out! Project Motion and Voices of the South are on the way with the 8th installment of Pre-sent/Pres-ent, a homegrown holiday extravaganza chock full of good tidings, good cheer and even better laughs. As always, this unique, multi-faceted performance experience features new work from some of the city’s most talented choreographers, dancers, directors, writers, actors and comedians.
Pre-sent Pres-ent is the “must see” Memphis theatre tradition that delivers an authentic cure for the holiday blues. It’s dance. It’s comedy. It’s drama. It’s wildly inventive, wildly irreverent, and authentically “Memphis”. If you’re already a fan, you know you can’t miss it. If you’re new to the experience, treat yourself to some soulful theatre magic that’s destined to lift the spirits, engage the mind, and send you head first into the holidays with style.
