Just state that you aren't dating anymore publicly and you will be married in 4 to 6 months. That's how it worked for me. I didn't know this until recently but my wife said the same thing before she met me

I used to be in the SAME boat...so frustrated and convinced that I would never meet new people in Memphis. I started by going out with my roommate's friends one night. Then those friends became friends. Then I met their friends. It is all about trying something new and not "prowling". If you are just open to going to new places and meeting new people (heck, role into a happy hour or go to a dog park one day and see who you talk to...people in normal cities do this all of the time) you WILL meet new people. Memphians especially adhere to this idea that you can't eat/drink/dance/play alone. I met some of the most amazing people grabbing a bite to eat in California when I just walked in a restaurant by myself. Once I took my blinders off and just started mingling, I met all kinds of people and still do.

Great post, Elizabeth!
