If you haven’t heard of RocktoberFest 09 yet, it’s probably because this year’s event is the first ever rock-your-socks-off celebration at the Germantown Performing Arts Centre…or because your Facebook account has dust on it. Always on the forefront of things new and exciting, GPAC is reaching out to the young and fabulous by hosting an event so big it requires 4 live entertainers, a DJ, a margarita machine, and vibe only GPAC can create.
While we 20-30-somethings tend to be a last minute crowd, I would certainly recommend getting your tickets for RocktoberFest as soon as your debit card allows. For just $30 you get the vocal stylings of Ryan Peel, Two-Way Radio, Harlan T. Bobo, and yes…Al Kapone himself. As if that weren’t enough, your ticket also includes food from Swanky’s Taco Shop, an open bar, and MARGARTIAS. Forget German brews, margaritas are the new signature drink for fall.
GPAC not only throws a great party, but offers truly world class artistic entertainment year-round. I have experienced moving modern dance, breathtaking ballet, the whaky stylings of Dan Zanes, and the sheer talent of the Stax Academy SNAP students from the comfy chairs in GPAC’s main auditorium. Their Jazz in the Box series is one of the best ways to experience live music in Memphis and the Peanut Butter and Jam session on various Saturday mornings are a most fun way to dance like a kid again…with the kids.
Tickets are going quickly for RocktoberFest 09, so call 901-751-7500 or visit www.gpacweb.com today to get yours. Don’t forget to RSVP on Facebook and tell your friends…this is going to be big!
