A Binghampton community center and coffee shop with a mission to break down walls of hostility between and among neighboring cultures and build bridges of love and trust between the rich and those made poor. A talented photographer whose life centered around his family and his spiritual community. The opening reception for the Glenn Booth Memorial Retrospective: 1942-2009 will be at Caritas Village on Friday, October 2 from 6-8pm. From the Village:

Glenn Booth was an avid and talented photographer whose life centered around his family, his spiritual community and photography. He was a social justice activist and one of the founders of the Memphis School of Servant Leadership and the Caritas Christian Community.

Glenn was the official Caritas Village photographer where he devoted much time and energy to helping others through supporting food ministries, providing transportation to neighbors, visiting prisoners, helping those in recovery, and being present without judgment to people in need.

He blended his compassion for members of the Binghamton community with his lifelong love of photography, which, in recent years culminated in a black and white photographic exhibit entitled “Facing Our Neighbors”.

Glenn Booth Memorial Retrospective celebrates a life lived with compassion, love and spirit. His passion and talent inspired many.

What also excites me is that this retrospective marks the first in what will now be a regular series of art exhibitions at the Village’s Hope Gallery (recognizing the remarkable shows that have been held in the past, including Frank D’s Breast Cancer awareness exhibit and NIA’s moving group show regarding infant mortality awareness). Watch soon for the call to artists, for Hope Gallery’s first annual Peace Exhibition!
