KIX on Beale bring country music to blues main street
Memphis is the home of the blues and Beale Street is bustling with talent playing blues, R&B, soul, and…country? Yes, indeed, country music has a huge place on Beale as the recently wrapped up “KIX on Beale” series in Handy Park proved.
Partnering with Performa for the fifth year, radio station KIX 106 brought in rising stars such as James Otto, Bucky Covington, Jessica Harp and more. Each of the six show saw the parked filled to capacity with between 2,000-3,000 boot & cowboy hat wearing, cheering fans.
The juxtaposition of musical styles and genres has long served as an engine of synergy for musical innovation and creativity, from jug band music of the 1920s to today.
