Facing History and Ourselves presents Community Conversations with Dr. Alvin Poussaint on October 6

facinghist_poussaint_alvinFacing History and Ourselves, in partnership with the Allstate Foundation, presents Community Conversations with Dr. Alvin Poussaint, author and consultant of “The Cosby Show.” The event, scheduled for October 6 at 7pm at Hutchison School, is part of a national series of community-wide dialogues across the US. Prominent scholars, authors, filmmakers and policy leaders speak and participate in discussions about civic engagement, individual and collective responsibility, and tolerance.

Dr. Alvin F. Poussaint, Director of the Media Center of the Judge Baker Children’s Center in Boston, will discuss his recent book, co-written with Dr. Bill Cosby, titled Come on, People: On the Path From Victims to Victors. In it, he stresses the importance of family, education, hard work, mentoring, and civic participation while maintaining one’s personal dignity and self-respect. Dr. Poussaint is also a Professor of Psychiatry and Faculty Associate Dean for Student Affairs at Harvard Medical School.
