Thanks to everyone who made Memphis – The Summer Experience a success.  From our corporate sponsorships to the help from our alumni and board, to those who openly welcomed the interns to Memphis by sharing their expertise and passion for our city, to the interns themselves, thank you reminding us why Memphis is a city of choice.

.

This is a viable, invaulable, unique program, and The Academy was thrilled to share it with 274 talented young people working in Memphis this summer.  These interns, who hail from Princeton, MIT, Morehouse, Spelman, Georgetown and also Rhodes, the U of M, and LeMoyne Owen college, are 67% more likely to begin their careers in Memphis as a result of participating in The Summer Experience.  The seven-part experience was carefully designed to lift up our city’s greatest assets.  Not only did interns see firsthand things like downtown rooftop views of the Mississippi, Shelby Farms, the Memphis Music Foundation on South Main, the Memphis Zoo and the Ornamental Metal Museum, but they also got to meet top executive ambassadors like Greg Duckett, Leigh Shockey, Laurie Tucker, Duncan Williams and Shelby County Mayor AC Wharton.  Memphis is leadership-accessible, and our iterns got to see that firsthand.  To cap it off, we secured free intern tickets to local treasures like the Orpheum theatre.
