The Mighty Electric St. Jude Band is one step closer to being crowned Best Corporate Band in the World since qualifying to compete in the final round of the 9th Annual FORTUNE Battle of the Corporate Bands. The final showdown will be October 2-3 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.
The St. Jude Band performed recently at the Nashville Regional Qualifier along with musicians representing Chevron, Gaylord Opryland, The Ladders.com, Johnson & Johnson, Healthways, Calzone and Enernoc.
“We were really impressed with the great musical talent from the companies represented at the regional qualifier,” said Eric Schiavone, director of interactive media at ALSAC, and founding member of the band. “The competition was strong, but we poured our hearts into our performance in Nashville and are proud to be representing everyone at St. Jude at the final. We can’t wait to perform at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”
A panel of music industry professionals chose The St. Jude Band and three others to advance to the final in Cleveland along with four bands from the Los Angeles Regional Qualifier and one band from Europe. The competition is a fundraiser for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, which supports music education programs in public schools.
In addition to being crowned Best Corporate Band in the World, the winning band will be invited to attend the 2010 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
The St. Jude Band performs as volunteers and all proceeds benefit kids battling cancer and other catastrophic diseases at St. Jude. It has played covers ranging from R&B to rock to country at dozens of events and parties since forming in 2002.
