The Wishlist Foundation, a Pearl Jam fan nonprofit corporation, is hosting a pre-party fundraiser to benefit Memphis’ Delta Girls Rock Camp in conjunction with Eddie Vedder’s “Into the Wild” solo tour. The fundraiser will be held 3:00-5:30 PM at Hard Rock Cafe at 315 Beale Street St. on June 20, 2009. This is a pre-party fundraiser before Eddie Vedder’s solo concert at the Orpheum. Eddie Vedder’s “Into the Wild” solo tour features his award-winning music for the soundtrack to Into the Wild, a critically-acclaimed film directed by Sean Penn.

Attendees will be able to make donations at the event and receive incentive items like Pearl Jam inspired T-shirts, posters, wristbands, mouse pads and ticket albums and can enter an “unraffle” to win fan-donated Pearl Jam memorabilia and participate in an auction that features other unique and one-of-a-kind items including a painting of Eddie Vedder by local Memphis artist Lamar Sorrento, limited edition prints by Brad Klausen & Ames Bros., rare Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder memorabilia, vintage Pearl Jam tour Tshirts, and signed guitars by popular musicians.
This fundraiser will benefit Memphis’ Delta Girls Rock Camp in their mission to recognize and cultivate the potential of every young woman as well as empower the female Memphis musicians of tomorrow by giving them the freedom to march to the beat of their own drum today!
It’s no surprise that DGRC made it into The Memphis Blog’s We Recommend spotlight of local coolness. For more information about DGRC’s upcoming session please see below or check out their website.
Founded in 2006, the Wishlist Foundation is a Pearl Jam fan 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Pearl Jam and its band members’ charitable and philanthropic efforts. Since 2004, the Wishlist Foundation and Pearl Jam fans across the globe have together raised over $300k to date through a variety of grassroots fundraising methods. The Foundation supports many charitable organizations such as the CCFA and Advocacy for Patients and has sponsored over 50 fundraiser parties for fans of Pearl Jam since 2004, helping to foster the unique “family” atmosphere in the fan community.
Co-founded and co-directed by professional musicians Kate Crowder and Angela Horton and artist/educator Sheri Bancroft, DGRC is an affordable week-long camp for girls ages 10-17, held July 27-July 31, at Hutchison School and is offered through its Center for Excellence community outreach program. During the course of the week, professional Memphis musicians mentor and teach girls instrumentation, vocal techniques, and songwriting on beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. The girls do not have to know how to play an instrument to attend camp. Campers also participate in discussion panels led by experts in the music industry as well as attend daily performances by Memphis women in music. Campers form bands of their own, and the camp culminates in a Showcase performance of camper’s bands open to the public on August 1 in Hutchison’s Wiener Theatre.
