After taking a bit of a sabbatical from take-out and eating out, I returned to the beloved Memphis Pizza Cafe with the family last night for dinner and catching up. After I enjoyed every bit of my Greek salad and 2 slices of Alternative (add artichoke!), I felt compelled to remind people just how great Memphis Pizza Cafe is.

We chose the one at Park and Mendenhall for convenience, but any of the locations provide a great family atmosphere and fun music from the juke box. I am a bit partial to the midtown location on Madison, but I am a bit partial to midtown overall.

Memphis Pizza definitely has its own flare but it also offers a healthier alternative to noshing on a food favorite. With the thin crust and wide variety of veggies and salads available, you can treat your self for a VERY reasonable price and still stay on the diet track. Mind you, there is always a tasty calzone and outstanding beer selection should you decide to stray, but at least the options are present.

This also has to be one of the most kid-friendly environments that lacks a playplace that I have ever been to. I don’t have kids, but Memphis Pizza seems to offer my parenting friends a place to hang with adults and still bring the kiddos out of the house. You may have to dodge a t-ball team or two, but who doesn’t enjoy seeing kids celebrate?

There is a reason Memphis Pizza is voted Best Pizza in Memphis every year…actually there is a whole menu full of reasons!
