If you eat Indian food, or if you want to try it, go to Golden India on Overton Square. It’s bar-none my favorite restaurant in Memphis, and served as possibly my number one feeling of ‘coming home.’
I lived in Philadelphia for six years, where I fell in love with Indian food (mmm, Tikka Masala …). I was happy to move back to Memphis, but I didn’t think there would be any Indian restaurants. Nice time to be proven wrong!
Food, service, atmosphere, all are terrific and as spicy as you want it. There’s an outstanding buffet and better dinner. Good, good stuff.

I absolutely agree with you! I had the buffet not too long ago, and even our 3 year old loved it (especially the naan, the lentils, and the curried potatoes and cauliflower). I think it’s also worth saying that Golden India has a ton of vegetarian items- even on the buffet.
For what it’s worth, my husband thought he disliked Indian food until he ate at Golden India!
Wow we love it too! In fact they give you so much food that you can get a few appetizers, share them and leave totally full. Great service- great food. They get 4 stars from me!
Yay for good Indian food! I have heard such great things about Golden India but haven’t yet stopped there to eat. Must go ASAP.
